Do you want to learn how to set a stone into a piece of jewellery?
Or do you have your own stone and want to learn how to set it and turn it into a piece of jewellery?
Stone setting is an advanced and technical skill, so if you have never tried jewellery making before, this class is NOT for you. You may want to try a ring making class before you book this class.
Please note that you need to have a good understanding of jewellery making in order to take this class, this is for advanced skills only, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
You will be shown all the necessary techniques to set a stone, however please be aware that a certain amount of continual practice will be required after the advanced stone setting class to get your skills up to a professional standard.
You will have your own bench where we do have access to hand tools. If you have your own tools, feel free to bring your own.
This is a One to One Class so you will get full attention from me. In the class you will learn how to set ONE of these type of settings:
-a round rub over setting
-a square rub over setting
-a round setting with 4 claws
-a flush set/secret setting round stone
Then you will be able to try making a piece with one of these type of settings, in silver. If you want to make a piece in gold you will be charged extra for materials.
The class will last 5 hours. If you go over time I will need to charge £40 extra per hour.
If you want to come back in to try making one of the other type of settings. You can by booking another session.
**Please note classes may be cancelled due to illness. In the unlikely event, you will be fully refunded and notified 48 hours before the class is scheduled. However if you book the class and don’t turn up you will not be given a refund and you will have to pay again if you wish to attend a different class.**
