February Gemstone
Amethyst
This stone was believed by ancient Greek and Romans to ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus and is said to keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted. Amethyst is a purple quartz, a beautiful blend of purple and red. It has been found that the finest amethyst was found in Russia and were found in many European Jewellery.
Collectors look for depth of colour, possibly with red flashes if cut conventionally. As amethyst is readily available in large structures the value of the gem is not primarily defined by carat weight; this is different to most gemstones where the carat weight exponentially increases the value of the stone. The biggest factor in the value of amethyst is the colour displayed
At Genna Design, I have a whole collection where I have worked with the stone itself. It is a gorgeous stone that stands out on its own and looks great on any complexion with the elegance of the purple tones and how the stones are set on a sterling silver frame.
Amethyst stones have been in popular demand with clients that come and see my collections and it is always a collection that gets the most feedback with how; eye-catching, delicate, elegant the collection looks.
