Do you want to learn how to set a stone into a piece of jewellery?
Or do you have your own stone and want to learn how to set it and turn it into a piece of jewellery?
This is a bespoke one to one class. What type of stone setting would you like to learn how to make?
Stone setting is an advanced and technical skill, so if you have never tried jewellery making before, this class is NOT for you. You may want to try a ring making class before you book this class.
Please note that you need to have a good understanding of jewellery making in order to take this class, this is for advanced skills only, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
You will be shown all the necessary techniques to set a stone, however please be aware that a certain amount of continual practice will be required after the advanced stone setting class to get your skills up to a professional standard.
You will have your own bench with access to hand tools but do feel free to bring your own.
In the class you will have the option to learn how to set:
-a round rub over setting
-a square rub over setting
-a square setting with 2 claws
-a flush set/secret setting round stone
-4 prong claw setting
If you would like to know how to do a different type of setting please get in touch to discuss other options.
You will be able to make a piece with one of these type of settings, in silver. If you want to make a piece in gold you will be charged extra for materials.
The class will last 4- 5 hours.
If you want to come back in to try making one of the other type of settings. You can by booking another session at £20 per hour plus the materials you use.
**If you book the class and don’t turn up you will not be given a refund and you will have to pay again if you wish to attend a different class.**
