One of the most commonly asked questions I get from potential clients when I’m exhibiting is “Do you have your own shop?”
The answer is No.
Although I don’t have a retail shop you are definitely welcome to visit the studio /workshop but you do have to arrange an appointment to come see me.
I would love to have my own retail shop with gallery workshop but due to the time involved in running one, as well as the overhead costs involved in having your own premises, I have decided to continue running my creative practice from my studio/workshop at WASPS Studios, Dundee. I have managed to maintain my creative business and will be reaching my 10 year anniversary next month and believe if I did have my own retail shop that I wouldn’t be trading anymore. Having a studio at WASPS has allowed me to keep my running costs low and has let me continue to run my creative practice full time.
Last year I moved into a larger studio at Meadow Mill and have have now added two more benches which I rent out to other jewellers for hot desking and can also host jewellery classes of up to 4 people working at once.
I love my work space! I also have 4 jewellery cabinets where I can display my jewellery. I don’t always have all my jewellery on display but if you have a look at my website and let me know what pieces you would like to see, I can put these on display for you.
“Where can I buy your work?”
You can purchase my jewellery online from the comfort of your own home. Head to the online jewellery shop here
You can arrange an appointment to view /purchase pieces at my studio and to discuss commissions, you can contact me here
You can visit me at any of the exhibitions that I take part in or visit any of the outlets that stock my jewellery. You can see who stocks my work here
“Can I just pop in to see you?”
Unfortunately not. I am a one man band. I work on my own and sometimes employ people on a part time freelance basis. Although I work full time, I’m not always in the studio as I’m out posting orders, away visiting suppliers, exhibiting, going to networking events, doing admit, etc. This is why it is necessary to book an appointment to make sure I’m definitely there, so you don’t waste your time coming to see me. There is also security in the building so it is not easy to get in to WASPS. When you arrange an appointment at a suitable time and date that fits us both, I always come down to great my clients on the ground floor and will take you upstairs to my studio.
