This stunning oxidised leaf pendant with chrysoprase gemstone is a one of a kind neckpiece. I don’t normally make organic shapes but I was really drawn to this extremely rare green gemstone with iron ore. The textures of the oxidised silver are inspired by walks in the forest. It was lovingly handmade in my garden studio in Tayport. I love gemstones with natural inclusions as they have character and hidden depth within them.
If you love large pendants with statement gemstones then you will love this piece. I have put it on an oxidised silver snake chain, but you can swap it onto another type of chain if you prefer a longer pendant.
I’m a magpie to sourcing natural gemstones that have been created by nature. If you are into healing gemstones, Green chrysoprase symbolizes joy, wisdom, and new beginnings. The historical chrysoprase meaning was one of manifesting abundance, balancing the mind, and enhancing spiritual growth. This particular piece has iron ore in it too. I love the contrast of the bright green and the brown, like in nature. It’s an extremely rare gemstone and is unusual to see it this big.
I design around the stone and like to show off as much detail as possible. Some of my settings are quite rough and rugged like this one. I like to allow the silver to do what it wants when I’m setting it, just like nature. The pendant is not completely flat, I have shaped it like a curling leaf.
It is a one of a kind piece and will make a statement.
